In a Kalnelis village farmstead operates a small partnership Povila's kitchen. Here, the live fire kitchen chef Povilas Mikalajūnas opened a kitchen suitable for a catering business and related educations, with not only modern cooking technologies but also a traditional bread oven installed. P. Mikalajūnas, who has been conducting a catering business here for nearly a decade, gained recognition for his culinary dishes and their tasting. The chef’s childhood cooking hobby became his lifestyle and he moved on to individual, city festival, Lithuanian and world barbeque championships. Most of the kitchen’s dishes are made outside on a live fire. The boiled rice in the cast-iron qazan, juniper-smoked neck or ham, fish cooked on a grill and other dishes will convince everyone.
‘The roast must be prepared right there and served still sizzling. That is the most important principle. I invite those who appreciate a live fire kitchen, tasty and healthy foods to see the food preparation process, hear and experience the whole history of festive dishes and try some dishes,’ says the live fire kitchen chef Povilas Mikalajūnas.
